Where did you complete your training?

A: I am a (proud!) Wise Woman Way of Birth graduate.

Can I message you with questions during my pregnancy?

A: Yes, anything! In fact, an open line of communication is encouraged. It gives me more insight into you, your concerns, your comfort measures. It helps our relationship grow organically. It builds trust. When it comes time to birth your baby, we will both be thankful that this foundation of mutual understanding has been established.

I’m using a midwife. Could I still benefit from a doula?

A: Absolutely. In fact, most midwives recognize the invaluable support a doula brings to the birthing person and will recommend you hire a doula. The role between midwife and doula is quite distinct. A midwife is a medical professional. Their objective is the birth of a healthy baby (a very important objective!). A doula, on the other hand, works for the birthing person. Their objective is the wellness and comfort of the birthing person. This is achieved by ensuring the birthing person’s emotional and physical needs are met during, and following, the birth process.

I’m planning on a hospital birth with a doctor. Can you still attend?

A: I love working with clients who are under the care of a physician or OB because I feel like there’s an important need here for extra continual support. So, absolutely - yes!

If I use a doula, can I still have an epidural?

A: Above everything else, my philosophy is that YOU are the boss of your birth. That means you are the one who gets to make these big decisions! My job is to provide you with the necessary information (ie. risks vs benefits) so that you can make an informed choice about what is best for you and your baby.

Does a doula replace a partner during birth?

A: No way! A doula will not replace your partner during your birth and a good doula recognizes that your support system needs support too. Role expectations are discussed during our prenatal visits.

How long have you been attending births?

A: From 2015 - 2018, I was a “hobby doula,” attending births for family and friends. I’ve been a “occupational doula” (taking clients) since 2018.

What are your personal birth experience(s)?

A: You can read about my own births under the “Tips + Tricks” tab.

When should I secure my doula services?

A: In recent months, I’ve noticed a trend of clients booking earlier and earlier in their pregnancies. I often hit capacity months in advance so please, to avoid disappointment, reach out early.

You sound like the perfect fit for my birth team! What do I do now?

A: Let’s start with a complimentary consultation. During your consultation we will discuss your general goals for birth and how I can help you achieve those goals.
